“Simply put, the ASEAN Member States are looking at nuclear power as an option to decarbonise energy system and meeting energy demand. The Civilian Nuclear Energy under APAEC priorities enhancing nuclear literacy and public engagement, building human resource capabilities, and advancing regional and international partnerships for knowledge and capacity sharing in nuclear science and technology. In this spirit, ASEAN warmly welcomes the support and expertise of Russia, whose renowned capabilities in nuclear technology, supply chain, and human workforce development offer invaluable avenues for partnership” said Razib Dawood, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE).
Particular attention during the webinar was given to Rosatom’s technological solutions. Alexander Tsibulya, a representative of the state corporation, spoke about the advantages of Russian nuclear technologies: “We can offer ASEAN countries reference, time-tested solutions both for large-capacity reactors and for small land-based and floating power units, depending on each country’s needs, its national energy strategy, and geographic features. Today, Russian nuclear reactors are the most in demand globally: out of 25 nuclear power units currently under construction for export, 22 are being built by us. We are ready to share our advanced technologies with our partner countries.”
