Cooperation between Russia and Saudi Arabia is developing on the basis of an intergovernmental agreement signed on 18 June 2015. The agreement defined a wide range of cooperation areas and established a Joint Coordinating Committee for collaboration in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. On 5 October 2017, during the visit of the King of Saudi Arabia to Russia, Rosatom and the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy signed a Cooperation Program in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, outlining several key areas of mutual interest. In the Middle East and North Africa region, Rosatom is implementing two of the world’s largest nuclear power plant construction projects: El Dabaa NPP in Egypt and Akkuyu NPP in Türkiye.
Russia continues to develop cooperation with all interested countries. Large international projects are ongoing, with Rosatom and its divisions playing an active role in this work.
