Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev signed three memorandums of understanding with the People's Republic of China

Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev signed three interagency memorandums of understanding during the official visit of the President of the Russian Federation to the People's Republic of China.

The first memorandum was signed with the China Atomic Energy Authority on cooperation in developing human resources for the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The document provides for establishing and strengthening collaboration in workforce development, exchanging experience and best practices in training personnel for the nuclear industry, and expanding cooperation between youth and women’s professional communities in both countries. The memorandum was signed by Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev and Head of the China Atomic Energy Authority Shan Zhongde.

The second memorandum was signed with the Ministry of Science and Technology of China on scientific and technical cooperation in the field of controlled nuclear fusion. Russia and China are recognized leaders in this area: both countries are implementing large-scale national programs and jointly participate in the international ITER project. The document was signed by Alexey Likhachev and Chinese Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun.

The third memorandum was signed with the Chinese Academy of Scienceson cooperation in science and technology. In addition to controlled nuclear fusion, the agreement covers nuclear medicine, accelerator technologies, and new photonic and quantum technologies, areas in which Russia and China have achieved advanced results. The memorandum was signed by Alexey Likhachev and President of the Chinese Academy of SciencesHou Jianguo.
CEO of Rosatom expressed confidence in the systemic importance of the signed documents: “Our countries are united by a long history of strategic partnership not only in the construction of nuclear power plants, but also in the development of future technologies. The memorandums on long-term cooperation in fundamental areas of science and technology, especially controlled nuclear fusion, demonstrate our readiness to move forward together, shoulder to shoulder, and ensure leadership in these fields,” said Alexey Likhachev.
