“At Rosatom, we are not only building modern nuclear power plants using advanced technologies that ensure safety and efficiency — we are also a knowledge-driven corporation,” said Murad Aslanov, Director of Rosatom’s Country Office in Egypt.
“Every year, we implement hundreds of educational projects around the world in the fields of science, technology, capacity building and intellectual development. Naturally, we bring the best of these formats to our Egyptian friends,” added Murad Aslanov.
“The Olympiad provides an opportunity to engage young people in science and engineering knowledge, to help talented children show themselves off and lay the foundations for their future professional advancement. In order to nurture qualified specialists for the future, we need to start now by boosting their interest and inspiration, providing support for those who are just taking their first steps in natural sciences and technology,” said Nina Dementsova, Head of Atomstroyexport JSC Communications Division.
Alexander Nakhabov, Deputy Head of the Department of Nuclear Physics and Technology at the Obninsk Institute of Atomic Energy (OINPE MEPhI), also addressed the finalists, emphasizing the role of such initiatives in preparing highly skilled professionals for the nuclear industry. “The first chain of the STEM Energy Olympiads held in Egypt demonstrated high standards of schoolchildren and students training, as the winners solved most of the problems in mathematics and chemistry. Physics turned out to be more complicated, but it suggests great potential for further development. It is essentially important that the guys focus on a vast array of jobs, such as future work in the nuclear industry, further education in the field of Russia’s nuclear energy and joint programs with Egyptian universities,” he said.
