On March 26–27, Hanoi hosted the first-ever “Global HackAtom” international student hackathon to be held in the country, organized by Tomsk Polytechnic University and Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, with the participation of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM) and leading scientific and educational organizations.
Hosted by Vietnam National University, the hackathon brought together 18 teams representing 10 major universities from Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
The competition focused on nuclear medicine — a key pillar of modern high-tech healthcare. The program included a series of lectures by Rosatom experts, followed by intensive teamwork in which participants presented their own solutions, including projects utilizing artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and patient flow management systems.
Vladimir Murashkin, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Vietnam, attended the event. He noted that the Russian Government annually allocates government-funded places for Vietnamese citizens to study at Russian universities, including in engineering and high-tech fields related to the nuclear industry.
Team HUSAtom from Vietnam National University emerged as the winner and will represent the country at the Global HackAtom international final in Russia in September 2026.
